Our initiative recognizes that the key to progress is to actively promote and enhance female participation in politics. We acknowledge the challenges faced by female youths in political parties’ primaries, which are often monetized, making it difficult for women to compete on an equal footing. To address these issues, we will advocate for legislations that guarantee women’s political participation, thereby preventing the use of excuses like religion and culture to undermine women. We commend the efforts of civil society organizations (CSOs), like in Sokoto State, over 11 female candidates in the last election, demonstrating the positive impact of their work in improving women’s political engagement.

While the results for the National Assembly may not reflect immediate change,

we are already preparing for 2027

with the aim of creating a significant positive impact. We believe that it is crucial to adopt a long-term, well-considered approach that not only encourages more women to participate but also addresses the barriers that prevent their full involvement. Our vision encompasses women making decisions and
being actively involved in law-making, leading cabinet meetings, managing resources, and leading policy teams that affect the wider population. We understand that real development strides can only be achieved when power dynamics change, breaking free from the historical dominance of one gender. In our pursuit of reform, we firmly advocate for a comprehensive approach that empowers women at every level, from grassroots to top leadership positions. It is time to leave behind the outdated notion of a mere 35
percent representation and strive for 50 to 60 percent women's participation, ushering in a new era of progress in Nigeria.

have shown positive results in improving gender balance.

Ensuring equal funding opportunities and transparency in
campaign financing can help level the playing field for women candidates and reduce the
financial barriers they face.

Providing training, mentorship, and networking opportunities specifically targeted at women in politics can help build their confidence, skills, and support networks.

5 Addressing Harassment and Discrimination:
Strengthening laws and regulations to address harassment and discrimination in politics and establishing support systems to respond effectively to such instances can create a safer and more inclusive environment for women.

6 Deliberate and Essential Legislation:
it is crucial to establish clear-cut laws that promote the active involvement of young women in politics and governance. These laws would mandate the inclusion of female youth in various political roles, such as councilors, local government representatives, elected officials, and appointments to political offices. By enacting such legislation, we can ensure and guarantee increased female participation in government.

female youths and women leaders in politics need to start making changes to policies that support and encourage the participation of young women in political activities. This can include the implementation of affirmative action measures, the creation of mentorship programs, financial support for female youth candidates, and the removal of barriers and genderbased discrimination that may hinder their political aspirations. We can also focus on addressing the unique challenges faced by female youths in politics, such as lack of access to resources, cultural barriers, and societal expectations. These reforms aim to level the playing field and create a more inclusive and equitable political environment that allows young females to actively engage, contribute, and lead in the decision-making processes. Female youths in politics can be implemented at various levels, including state and local governance. It requires collaboration between government agencies, political parties, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to advocate for and implement these necessary changes to increase female youth representation and participation in politics.

8 Moral & Confidence Footnote: Promoting confidence and moral values in young women by encouraging their active involvement in politics and leadership roles. This enables them to develop a strong sense of discipline and self-worth, fostering a higher level of participation while upholding positive moral principles It is crucial to recognize that the impact of our actions transcends beyond our state borders.
